Castle and gardens of Chaumont

The castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire has kept the royal elegance from the Renaissance, just like the neighbouring castles from the Loire valley. However, this castle’s gardens make it stand out against all the other castles. The gardens date from the 19th century, when the count of Aramon created them by planting several species of trees, and when Prince Henri-Amédée de Broglie created an English garden. Every year since 1992, the castle’s park is the setting of a garden festival, held from April to October, offering garden architects a chance to express their vision of a modern garden.
